The Bioscientific Society of Oulu arranged an event ”I have an idea, what next? The ABCs of founding your own bio business” on Nov 13th with the purpose to provide a compact overview on how to take ideas emerging from research into business. The special emphasis was on bio field as this kind of events hadn’t been arranged before in the Kontinkangas campus of the University of Oulu, where medical and bio sciences are located.
The event gathered around 40 interested people and we heard excellent talks provided by Juho Risku from Butterfly Ventures, a company focusing on venture capital, Maarit Jokela from University of Oulu Innovation Center, Jarmo Lauronen from BusinessOulu and Salla Sihvonen from OuluHealth. Experiences from creating your projects into business were shared by Iivari Kanninen from MAKNEE, a startup company, and by Lloyd Ruddock whose Brazzein project is taking off. The presentations were accompanied by lively and fruitful discussion and University of Oulu Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme (HBS-DP) provided coffee and pulla.
The board wants to thank all the speakers and attendees for the event!
